1. Description

Joeris served as the general contractor for the construction of the new Viridian Elementary School for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Located in the Viridian master-planned community the campus serves residents in the community, as well as, residents living parts of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD southern boundaries. Viridian is the first sustainable community in the DFW area and is the first community in Texas to achieve and maintain Aududon International Gold Certification.
The two-story, 92,500 square foot elementary school includes part ICF and part CMU with structural steel framing. The school can serve up to 870 students. The state-of-the-art facility will have an administrative area, two-story classroom wing with 45 classrooms, library, cafeteria, fully functional kitchen, music hall, gymnasium and two outdoor playgrounds.
Our team experienced over 50 inclement weather days during the 12 month schedule. Despite the in spite of the impact this had on the schedule our team completed the project on time by working double shifts and weekends and working multiple areas of the project at a time.
With the rest of the community, the new elementary school is committed to sustainability. Joeris has extensive experience in the construction of sustainable facilities that will be applied to this project such as separating recyclable materials, using irrigated water for dust control and other “green” practices.
