Joeris was selected to be the General Contractor for the Lewisville Independent School District demolition and rebuild of Camey Elementary School. The construction of the new building and demolition of the existing building was done in two major phases. The new school is a two-story building with drilled piers, slab-on-void, steel frame, masonry cavity walls, brick veneer and modified bitumen roofing. The facility consists of regular classrooms, gymnasium, kitchen and cafeteria, administrative offices and ancillary support areas. Along with the new school, there were also several site improvements including additional parking, covered walkways, athletic fields and playgrounds. This was an extremely tight site, as construction of the new school was built 20 feet away from the existing campus. The existing school remained operational during the construction of the new campus. Our project team installed a temporary wood fence surrounding the site of the new school to ensure that students and faculty could not access the construction site. Once the new school was completed and occupied, our team began the demolition of the existing school.
