Winter Project Updates
Take a look at the cool new projects our Joeris teams have been working on this winter.
San Antonio Business Unit
San Antonio Spurs Practice Facility
In November, twenty beams were installed over the future training courts for the San Antonio Spurs. Each beam is 130 feet long, over six feet tall, and weighs over 13 tons. Once completed, the Spurs Practice Facility, officially named the Victory Capital Performance Center, will not only be Joeris’ largest mass timber building but the largest mass timber training facility in U.S. professional sports and the largest mass timber building in Texas!
Northside Independent School District John Jay High School
As part of the fine arts replacement at John Jay High School, a high-risk utility tie-in had to be installed between a 12-inch high-pressure gas main. Superintendents Alonso Barba and Ruben Martinez safely coordinated this technical installation without any hiccups.
The John Jay High School fine arts replacement is part of the Northside ISD 2022 Bond.
Karnes City ISD New Elementary School
The first phase of the 2020 Bond project in Karnes City consists of a new ground-up 53,000 SF elementary school. Steel erection has begun and will be completed per area, totaling four areas across the campus. Once steel erection has concluded, the goal is to start installing the roof system in March. The project’s second phase will include demoing the current school and constructing a new playground, connecting to the new campus built in phase one.
Houston Business Unit
Conroe ISD Construction Manager at Risk Multi-Project Package
Conroe ISD’s new junior high school is nearing completion. The project team recently began installing the unique finishes hand-selected by Conroe ISD. On the adjacent property, steel erection has begun at the existing high school campus. The team has been working around the clock on the multi-phased 6A Upgrades project at the high school. Additionally, the boys’ and girls’ athletic locker room remodels were completed in the fall of 2022. Over the winter holidays, the team completed the new softball and batting cage additions and the new grandstands for the football complex. The team is on track to complete this project in the summer of 2023. But it doesn’t end there, and work has begun at the remaining two bond projects, which include the new East County Transportation Center and an expansion to the existing North Transportation Center.
Gauge North Logistics Center Groundbreaking
The Houston team recently broke ground on the new 62,239 SF Gauge North Logistics Center warehouse space. This is the first of two projects we have been awarded for this new client.
Dallas Business Unit
Frisco ISD Richard Wilkinson Middle School
The Frisco ISD Richard Wilkinson Middle School project team is working diligently to wrap up roofing within the next month while simultaneously working on the exterior veneer around the building. Following the established flow of work, millwork and final touches are being done in the classroom wings, MEP and drywall installation is taking place in the cafeteria and fine arts areas, and interior CMU is being completed in the gymnasium and locker rooms.
HEB ISD Bellaire Elementary School
The project team at the HEB ISD Bellaire Elementary School recently began the auger cast pile drilling and placement. This foundation system has gained some steam in the North Texas market as the system is less impacted by weather delays and sub-surface conditions.
Retail Business Unit
HEB-HRSC Transportation Center Topping Out
The project team celebrated the topping out of the new HEB-HRSC (Houston Retail Support Center) Transporation Center with fajitas cooked by our very own Joeris Burnt Ends BBQ Team!
Jackson Shaw Georgetown Phase I
Tilt-wall panels have been erected at the Jackson Shaw project in Georgetown, TX! Phase I of the warehouse project is comprised of three buildings, totaling 488,758 SF, to be completed in June 2023.
Austin Business Unit
BASIS Cedar Park
The new 78,000 SF charter school in Cedar Park for BASIS Charter School is being constructed in two phases. Tilt-wall panels have been erected on phase one, and steel is wrapping up. The team is beginning work on the exterior framing, site utilities are being installed for the second phase, and the remaining tilt-wall panels are being poured in order to stay on track to lift them at the end of the month.
Austin ISD Northeast Middle School
Joeris partnered with LPA, Inc. in 2019 in pursuit of this new middle school, and we are proud to say that the job is now 90% completed! The team is working diligently on installing finishes, flooring, and wrapping up painting in order to meet their goal of a May substantial completion date. The middle school received its official name: Dr. General Garwood Marshall Middle School.
Austin Achieve Pflugerville
Our Austin team is working on the first phase of the new Austin Achieve campus in Pflugerville. This is a repeat client for the Austin Business Unit, having completed two phases on their Austin campus in 2018 and 2019. Steel erection has begun, and the first phase of overhead MEP installation is taking place. The project is about 25% completed, with a completion date of June 2023.
