  • Project Scope 124,690 SF Agriscience Magnet Facility
  • Completion Date August 2011
  • Owner North East Independent School District
  • Architect Garza/Bomberger & Associates

Located on 24 acres of the Madison High School campus, the NEISD Agriscience Magnet Program is a model for urban agriculture education. The mission of the AMP is to prepare ninth through twelfth-grade students for agribusiness careers. AMP offers six majors in agriculture including animal science, environmental science, agriculture communications, mechanized agriculture, agribusiness marketing and plant science.

The existing facility had aged considerably and was not able to accommodate new technologies associated with the district’s growing ‘ag’ program. The new facility includes state-of-the-art technology in 4 new barns, a 61,670 square foot instructional building, a fishing pier, and 3 storage buildings.

The project is LEED Gold certified. Sustainable elements include a wind turbine, reclaimed water system, solar heated flooring in the barns, photovoltaic panels and an EEED (energy efficient education dashboard) touch screen in the main building. The facility is also CHPS (collaborative for high performing schools) designed and certified.
