Bexar County Courthouse Restorations

Historical Renovation Municipal | San Antonio

  • Project Scope 103,000 SF Courthouse Restorations
  • Completion Date January 2015
  • Owner Bexar County
  • Architect Fisher Heck

The entire restoration project consisted of several projects including a Gondeck addition, courtroom renovations, and an extensive MEP upgrades package.

Demolition and renovations were made to the 1972 building, the1963 building, and the double-height courtroom. Specifically, restorations were made to the exterior stone and existing windows. We reconstructed fenestrations, damaged stonework, guardrails and window guards at newly exposed basement windows and restored a portion of the fire escape ladder.

The scope of work also included modifications to security, communications, alarm and monitoring systems, as well as significant modification to existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The entire project was constructed during operating hours while the courthouse was being occupied.
