Revolutionizing Sport Facility Construction: The Victory  Capital Performance Center

At Joeris, we pride ourselves on being more than general contractors; we are innovators,  collaborators, and builders of community landmarks. Our work on the Victory Capital  Performance Center, the San Antonio Spurs’ practice facility, is a shining example of how  innovative construction can redefine industries while fostering connection and sustainability.

Setting New Standards in Sport Facility Construction

The Victory Capital Performance Center, the San Antonio Spurs’ state-of-the-art training facility,  is a groundbreaking achievement in modern construction. Spanning 138,898 square feet, it is  Texas’ largest mass timber project and the first professional sports training facility in the U.S.  built with mass timber construction. The facility integrates cutting-edge features like hydrotherapy  pools, motion capture performance labs, sensory deprivation tanks, and a performance  kitchen—all designed to enhance athletic performance and team wellness.

Mass timber construction, a unique choice for projects of this scale, sets this facility apart. Its  eco-friendly profile underscores Joeris’ commitment to sustainability, using materials like Accoya  wood from New Zealand. The entire project required precise fabrication, complex logistics, and  meticulous installation, showcasing our team’s expertise and adaptability.

Overcoming Challenges With Collaboration and Expertise

The Victory Capital Performance Center was not without its hurdles. Delayed by the COVID-19  pandemic, the project required a collaborative approach to overcome budgetary constraints and  material supply chain disruptions. Joeris worked closely with stakeholders to select materials  that balanced quality and lead times without compromising the project’s vision.

Site-specific challenges, including navigating a rock shelf similar to those at nearby Six Flags  Fiesta Texas, required customized foundation solutions. Additionally, with architects and  engineers located out-of-state, maintaining seamless communication was critical to ensuring the  project remained on track.

A Testament to Innovation and Functionality

Every detail of the Victory Capital Performance Center was designed with purpose, from its  eco-conscious materials to its advanced athletic facilities. The spacious basketball court,  adorned with the Spurs logo and illuminated by natural light, is just one example of how form  meets function in this iconic San Antonio Spurs’ practice facility.

Beyond the training facility, Joeris prioritized community engagement. The center includes outdoor public  spaces like a splash pad, food truck area, and a large screen for fans to gather year-round,

reflecting our belief that sport complex construction should serve the broader community, not just its primary users.

Building With Purpose

As general contractors, Joeris takes pride in projects that go beyond traditional construction. The Victory Capital Performance Center isn’t just a training facility; it’s a beacon of innovation and sustainability that underscores our mission to build what matters for communities.

From the use of mass timber to the integration of state-of-the-art amenities, this project is a testament to Joeris’ ability to adapt, innovate, and lead in the field of sport facility construction. As the San Antonio Spurs begin a new era in their state-of-the-art home, we are proud to have played a role in shaping this groundbreaking facility and its lasting impact on the community.
